Nazism Analysis Essay Example For Students
Nazism Analysis Essay The National Socialist German Workers Party nearly passed on one morning in1919. It numbered just two or three dozen murmurers it had no organizationand no political thoughts. Be that as it may, numerous among the working class appreciated the Nazis strong oppositionto the Social Democrats. What's more, the Nazis topics of enthusiasm andmilitarism drew profoundly passionate reactions from individuals who could notforget Germanys prewar supreme greatness. In the national appointment of September 1930, the Nazis gathered nearly6.5 million votes and turned out to be second just to the Social Democrats as themost well known gathering in Germany. In Northeim, where in 1928 Nazicandidates had gotten 123 votes, they currently surveyed 1,742, a respectable28 percent of the aggregate. The across the nation achievement drew much quicker injust three years, party enrollment would ascend from around 100,000 toalmost a million, and the quantity of nearby offices would increasetenfold. The new individuals included average workers individuals, ranchers, andmiddle-class experts. They were both better taught and youngerthen the Old Fighters, who hosted been the foundation of the get-together during itsfirst decade. The Nazis currently introduced themselves as the gathering of theyoung, the solid, and the unadulterated, contrary to an establishmentpopulated by the old, the feeble, and the wicked. Hitler was conceived in a humble community in Austria i n 1889. As a little youngster, heshowed little aspiration. In the wake of dropping out of secondary school, he moved toVienna to contemplate craftsmanship, yet he was denied the opportunity to join Viennaacademy of expressive arts. When WWI broke out, Hitler joined Kaiser Wilhelmers armed force as aCorporal. He was not an individual vital. He was a creatureof a Germany made by WWI, and his conduct was molded by that war andits results. He had risen up out of Austria with numerous prejudices, including an amazing preference against Jews. Once more, he was an item ofhis times for some Austrians and Germans were biased against theJews. In Hitlers case the preference had become twisted it was a dominantforce in his private and political characters. Hostile to Semitism was nota strategy for Adolf Hitlerit was religion. What's more, in the Germany of the1920s, paralyzed by rout, and the desolates of the Versailles arrangement, itwas not difficult for a pioneer to persuade millions that one component of thenations society was answerable for the greater part of the disasters loaded upon it. The truth of the matter is that Hitlers hostile to Semitism was self-perpetrated snag tohis political achievement. The Jews, as different Germans, were stunned bythe disclosure that the war had not been battled to a halt, as theywere persuaded in November 1918, yet that Germany had , in fact, been crushed and was to be treated as a vanquished nation. Had Hitlernot set out on his approach of disestablishing the Jews as Germans, andlater of killing them in Europe, he could have depended on theirloyalty. There is no motivation to think whatever else. On the night of November 8, 1923, Wyuke Vavaruab State CinnussuiberGustav Rutter von Kahr was delivering a political discourse in Munichssprawling B?rgerbr?ukeller, exactly 600 Nazis and conservative sympathizerssurrounded the brew corridor. Hitler burst into the structure and leapedonto a table, wielding a pistol and shooting a shot into theceiling. ?The National Revolution,? he cried, ?has begun!?At that point, educated that battling had b roken out in another part ofthe city, Hitler raced to that scene. His detainees were permitted toleave, and they discussed sorting out safeguards against the Nazi overthrow. Hitler was obviously angry. What's more, he was a long way from wrapped up. At about11 oclock on the morning of November 9the commemoration of the foundingof the German Republic in 19193,000 Hitler partisans again gatheredoutside the B?rgerbr?ukeller. Right up 'til today, nobody realizes who discharged the primary shot. Be that as it may, a shot rangout, and it was trailed by fusillades from the two sides. Hermann G?ringfell injured in the thigh and the two legs. Hitler straightened himselfagainst the asphalt; he was safe. General Ludenorff proceeded tomarch indifferently toward the police line, which separated to let him passthrough (he was later captured, attempted and cleared). Behind him, 16Nazis and three cops lay spread dead among the many injured. The following year, R?hm and his band united with the fledglingNational Socialist Party in Adolf Hitlers Munich Beer Hall Putsch. Himmler participated in that uprising, however he assumed such a minor job thathe got away from capture. The R?hm-Hitler partnership endure the Putsch, and?hms 1,500-man band developed into the Sturmabteilung, the SA, Hitlersbrown-shirted private armed force, that harassed the Communists and Democrats. Hitler enrolled a bunch of men to go about as his protectors and protecthim from Communist endures, different opponents, and even the S.A. in the event that it got outof hand. This minuscule gathering was the undeveloped SS. Sun based Power II EssayThe ?exploratory individuals? were additionally utilized by Nazi specialists who neededpractice performing different activities. One specialist at Auschwitzperfected his removal procedure on live detainees. After he hadfinished, his mangled patients were sent off to the gas chamber. A couple of Jews who had examined medication were permitted to live if theyassisted the SS specialists. ?I cut the substance of solid youthful girls,?recalled a Jewish doctor who made due at horrendous expense. ?I immersedthe groups of midgets and challenged people in calcium chloride (to preservethem), or had them bubbled so the deliberately arranged skeletons mightsafely arrive at the Third Reichs galleries to legitimize, for futuregenerations, the obliteration of a whole race. I would never erasethese recollections from my psyche.? In any case, the best executing machine were the ?shower showers? of death. Aftertheir landing in a concentration camp, the Jews who had been decided to bite the dust atonce were informed that they were to have a shower. Squalid by their long, miserable excursion, they now and then cheered the declaration. CountlessJews and different casualties went calmly to the shower roomswhich weregas chambers in camouflage. In the waiting rooms to the gas chambers, huge numbers of the destined individuals foundnothing out of order. At Auschwitz, signs in a few dialects stated, ?Bath andDisinfectant,? furthermore, inside the chambers different signs rebuked, ?Dontforget your cleanser and towel.? Clueless casualties collaborated energetically. ?They escaped their garments so routinely,? Said a Sobibor survivor. ?What could be more naturalIn time, bits of gossip about the concentration camps spread, and undergroundnewspapers in the Warsaw ghetto even ran reports that recounted the gaschambers and the crematoriums. In any case, numerous individuals didn't accept thestoried, and the individuals who did were vulnerable regardless. Confronting the gunsof the SS watches, they could just expectation and go to endure. As oneJewish pioneer put it, ?We should be quiet and a wonder will occur.?There were no supernatural occurrences. The people in question, bare and dumbfounded, were shovedinto a line. Their watchmen requested them forward, and flagellated those whohung back. The ways to the gas chambers were bolted behind them. Itwas all over rapidly. The war returned home to Germany. Hardly had Hitler recouped from theshock of the July 20 besieging when he was confronted with the loss of Franceand Belgium and of incredible victories in the East. Adversary troops inoverwhelming numbers were meeting on the Reich. By the center of August 1944, the Russian summer offensives, beginningJune 10 and unrolling in a steady progression, had carried the Red Army to theborder of East Prussia, contained fifty German divisions in the Balticregion, entered to Vyborg in Finland, crushed Army Group Center andbrought a development on this front of 400 miles in about a month and a half tothe Vistula inverse Warsaw, while in the south another assault which beganon August 20 brought about the victory of Rumania before the finish of the monthand with it the Ploesti oil handle, the main significant wellspring of normal oilfor the German armed forces. On August 26 Bulgaria officially pulled back from thewar and the Germans started to hurriedly get out of that nation. InSeptember Finland surrendered and turned on the German soldiers which refusedto empty its region. In the West, France was freed rapidly. In General Patton, thecommander of the recently framed U.S. Third Army, the Americans had found atank general with the scramble and energy of Rommel in Africa. After thecapture of Avranches on July 30, he had left Brittany to shrivel on thevine and started an incredible range around the German armed forces in Normandy, moving southeast to Orleans on the Loire and afterward due east toward theSeine south of Paris. By August 23 the Seine was arrived at southeast andnorthwest of the capital, and after two days the incredible city, the gloryof France, was freed following four years of German occupation whenGeneral Jacques Leclercs French second Armored Division and the U.S. 4thInfantry Division broke into it and found that French obstruction unitswere to a great extent in charge.

The involvement of technology during my team working The involvement of technology during my team working was effective as it reduced the hard work and developed the smart work. At the time of my undergraduate degree, there was submission of group project which comprised number of details and responsibilities was distinguished in the team members. I had 5 members in my team who had different expertise and skills in different field. It was decided by lecturer to provide the task beyond the expertise which was a challenge for me. I had no knowledge about the latest technology and how to gather the data because my expertise was in creative activity. Submission date was about to come and me and one of my team members was left to accomplish the task. I got demotivate at that time when I felt that I am unable to accomplish the task which could have been impacted to the entire team. I went to my group and ask about help and I found th at my entire team suggested me a lot of ideas which encouraged me. There were 4 members apart from me so I got 4 different ideas from them which helped me to initiate my task at least. I learned that team work can reduce the stress and bring the various ideas from beyond thinking. I found that working in the team can increase the efficiency of the every team member. It helped to focus on one problem with different minds and thinking style which eliminate the issues from the group. Good team work is able to build synergy (Zeng, Phan and Matsui, 2015). The role of team working is vital to develop the problem solving strategy to provide better outcomes. The role of technology was huge in motivating my work as I got to know about the technology for gathering the information regarding the topic. I conducted a survey through Google forum by putting 10 questions by which I got huge response from people. It is the new technology by Google which help us to evaluate the thinking of the people regarding particular topic. My team fetched the information and made the graph by using the MS Offices application Ms excel. These graphs were facilitated to accomplish my project with depth details. I found that there were various sites from which I could conduct the survey such as survey monkey. It has been shown that the technology played a major role in making my assignment. The reason behind encouraging the group assignments in the universities I had been found the role of the team work in accomplishing the task. There are various reasons behind to encourage the group assignments in the universities. I believe that many of us have gone through in dealing with both organization and people which is an experience. It is not limited up to the universities where student meet with different people from different culture in order to complete the group assignment. I had experienced that team work is amplified to accomplish the task in easy manner. Good experience with team development In my past experience, I had good experience with my team mates as they were much cooperated to help each other. I was stuck to determine from where I could initiate to accomplish my task and got discouraged. My team mates help me a lot to fetch out from the stress of how I could accomplish my responsibility and provided me good guidance which helped me a lot. It enhanced my courage and increases my faith towards group working. I had been found that communication with others in effective manner can enhance the better understanding about the particular topic. The role of communication is importance to make the good relationship with team members where each member of the team is working towards the attainment of described or shared aims and objectives (Peterson, 2016). My interactions with my team member were good as there were 2 members with whom I was familiar earlier. It made me feel good because I have analyzed that people from different cultures and though could make conflicts if we unable to understand them but in my case luckily I had two members with whom I interacted openly. Along with that I have learned that group work is helpful to bring the innovative things as I got to know about the new technology of data collection which has been suggested my team mate. Issues with the reason and solution It is not necessary that everything goes in perfect way; every coin has some positive as well as negative impact which may influence the entire activity. Same thing I experienced while doing the project with my team member. As it has discussed that at school, university or workplace people come from different cultures and place where it is not required that tendency of each person will meet. However, individual differences like the attitude and personality of person often come into play while developing the bond among group members, majorly in the time of first semester in university, when people are unaware about each other (Clegg, Kornberger and Pitsis, 2015). For instance, I was being discouraged by one of my team member at the time when I was not aware about how to conduct the survey for data collection. I went to him for help but he refused me to provide it because of his ego and fear of leaking of information. It discouraged me and I stuck with my project for a long time. He sp read the wrong information that I was not able to accomplish the task and they should have communicated to the super authority for removing me from the team. I was disappointed and after hearing this information rest of my team member came to me and asked about my issues (Hacker, 2017). I communicated rest of my team member; I found that everyone is not same. We should never stop us to communicate others by getting one bad experience. I would do neglect those person who deny me to give help and after learning from my experience, I would give help to others so that they do not get stuck as I was before. Theories or concept of team working and technology The variety of sources have been drawn by me and mentioned in my personal diary and conversations. I have found that there are some stages in the formation of the group. Dr Bruce Tuckman introduced his model that comprised four factors of Forming, Storming, Norming Performing. The theory of Forming, Storming, Norming Performing theory is facilitated to explain the team development and behaviour (Hall, 2015). Forming We all are belong to different cultures and never met with each other ever. We had less understanding between us which was being the cause of misunderstanding. During our initial discussion it seems that lines were drawn between skills and unskilled as we initiated into a discussion of the group assignment. Initially we discussed about expertise area in different filed by which out lecturer decided to give the project beyond the expertise which being the major cause of misunderstanding. It was done by lecturer for enhancing the team cooperation (Muchiri, Kinyanjui and Assumpta, 2017). The purpose was unclear and lack of guidance and acquaintance made us confused. The rest of my team members were also confused about the given project instead of one. I found that he was over confident and ignored everyone due to over smartness. Storming As we endeavoured to initiate the project, we start to work out what we had to do and how to do it. It was the second stage of our project where our ideas were exchanged but the structure of the project was little. Competition had developed between team members to prove themselves and it increased the situation of conflicts as everyone was engaged in its own work which being the reason of ignoring others. 9 weeks were given to submit the project which was too long. It seemed that team member did not want to work in earlier and lack of gathering of team member developed the grudges. We should have appointed the leader to define the description about the project (Salmon, Stanton and Jenkins, 2017). Norming I started to understand the perception of understanding of each of my team member. The meeting was conducted between us where we all were invited to share our views and ideas regarding the assignment. The technology was being used in the meeting such as smart projector which used for the purpose of describing the entire project with clear understanding. I operated the smart class projector to describe the given topic and inserted the query of them so that resolution could be found out. Everyone was confused regarding completion of project but little understanding has been made between us regarding project, so I shared my issues regarding data collection and I got great support from my team members except one. I had realized that the roles and responsibilities of everyone were made which facilitated us to do progress in the project. The good feature I had found during discussion that everyone was listening each other which showed the respect of conversation (Couchman, 2015). Performing I believe that good bonding between group members about specific task can accomplish the task in effective manner. After communicating each other in the meeting, the mission regarding project had cleared in the mind of every team members. I got huge response from them and I gave possible support to them for initiating the research on given topic. I could see that good performance had taken place in the group regarding assignment. I involved myself completely in the project and looked that everyone except one involve in the task deeply without thinking that what part was given to whom. I had realized that the role of smart class projector was major to understand the issues of each other regarding the assignment. The role of technology in learning Management educator need to understand that conflict or issues in the group does not mean that group is destined to failure. If the manager has the right and techniques to resolve the issues in a manner that assist group members satisfied with the results of how the conflict was being managed, it might actually help the group to perform better. I have observed that the role of technology was the major cause of understanding each other as everyone was ready to hear each other (Susskind and Susskind, 2015). I believe that manager should apply the conflict resolution technique in case of conflicts within the organization or group discussion because it assists not only group member but also entire organization or university to maintain the togetherness between group members. At first, I analyze my approach to conflict resolution; I had found that there was effective approach of Thomas of conflict resolution which comprised five approaches. The five approaches are competing, avoiding, compromising, accommodating and collaborating. These five approaches have different objectives, rationale and results. By considering the Thomas theory and my reactions to issues within the group due to one member, I started to ignore him as I can because rest of my team members were very supportive and kind hearted. As per Thomas, the first approach of conflict resolution is attain own objectives which learnt me that focus on the goal and ignore those who had other perceptions. The objective of second approach of avoiding is avoiding dealing with the situation and conflict (Goetsch and Davis, 2014). I have learned that the interpersonal issues would never finish, it was better avoiding. Compromising is the third approach from which I observed that prolonged conflicts were a ble to distract people from their work and being the reason of bitter feelings (Akhilesh, 2014). The fourth approach of Thomass conflict resolution technique is accommodating which objective is to do not upset to other person. As I noticed that when I shared my issue regarding project, one of my team member took advantage of it and spread wrong information about my skills which being upset me. The fifth approach of conflict resolution is collaborating which objective is to solve the problems together. I approached rest of my team member and shared my views reading project in the group discussion and I got that collaboration had huge importance in group working (Ferguson, 2017). Use of technology at workplace I had been observed that smart work is more success than hard work. Technology made enable us to think differently and my leader delegated the responsibility as per knowledge and expertise in latest technology which help use to accomplish the task (Galegher, Kraut and Egido, 2014). At my workplace, I was forced to follow the instructions and work with new employee. After some time my boss realized that new employee was not suitable for the provided job profile and he got fired. My boss and I had an evaluation of the situation and communicated each other in calm manner to analyze that what went wrong at the time of interviewing. In such conversation, I have learned that mutual respect and understanding is required to listen and understand the position of conflict of each individual in the group. In case of conflicts, it is vital for the management educators to understand the issue of others without reacting on them. Furthermore, they can use various kinds of rewards practices to motivate the group team members to walk towards the goal together (Stanton and Baber, 2017). The use of technology in encouraging the group member is effective as it enhance their curiosity to know more about latest technology. Lack of respect of the team members and management educators often leads them to rebellious behaviour (Latham, 2014). It is necessary for the team members to co-operate each other and by taking help of technology accomplish the task within time frame. It has been recommended to the leaders or managers to keep focus on increasing the productivity of the team members by applying various theories and concepts. Three are various style approaches of leadership have become popular but transformational and transactional leadership are most effective leadership to organize the cooperation among team members (Saeed, Almas, Anis-ul-Haq and Niazi, 2014). Management educator should have conducted the training session for the student before providing them direct project; it would have been beneficial for them to understand the university project. Conclusion In conclusion, there have been two aspects which discussed in the essay. The scenario of school regarding submission of project and discussion about technology at work has been mentioned in the assignment. Dr Bruces theory of Forming, Storming, Norming Performing has been described in the context of showing the importance of team working. Conflicts can be done anywhere whether it is school, college or work place; it is required from the manager to manage the issues by applying the conflict theory. The theory of conflict resolution has been discussed in the assignment. References Akhilesh, K.B., 2014. Interpersonal Relationships, Teams, and Team Building. InRD Management(pp. 141-167). History Belongs to theRevisionists A Cleaned-Up Huck Finn IsComing The pitifulestà thing out is a mob; thats what an army isa mob; they dont fight with courage thats born in them, but with courage thats borrowed from their mass, and from their officers. But a mob without any MAN at the head of it is BENEATH pitifulness.à ~ The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,à Chapter 22 by Mark Twain There are all sorts of mobs, but some are harder to identify. One of the toughest to combat, perhaps, is theà politically correct. Today, Publishers Weekly announced that there will be a new N-Word free edition of Mark Twains classic available so that no one will have to be offended. But is that at all desirable? If we erase the lessons of history, how can we avoid repeating them? Its difficult enough to avoid missteps when we know what they are. Erasing our racist, shameful, past will not alter the fact that it happened. Perhaps some will argue that it is better to have the cleaned-up version rather than no Huck Finn at all. After all, the inclusion of the novel on high school, and even college, reading requirements has been in steady decline for many years and has been on the top of the list of banned books for quite some time as well, along with other uncomfortable works of literature like Ray Bradburys Fahrenheit 451, J. D. Salingers Catcher in the Rye, and Harper Lees To Kill a Mockingbird. Should all of these classics be sanitized as well?à Whats next?à Frederick Douglass: My Life as a Servant (It Wasnt That Bad) ?

Use plate tectonic theory to explain the origin of Mount St. Helens Research Paper
Use plate tectonic theory to explain the origin of Mount St. Helens (and by extension, the Cascades and all Andean-type mountains) - Research Paper Example Juan de Fuca is one of the plates that slide under the continental North American plate causing the convergence. Volcanic eruptions near the oceanic lithosphere contributed to the formation of the Cascades and Andean-type mountains. This was because of the subduction of the landscape along the mountains that led to the invasion of magma from the layer and some due to crustal reduction. It is apparent that at the boundaries of the ranges are sedimentary rocks that slant, forming hogbacks. When the molten rocks and solids present under the earth mix together, then they form the magma. This substance is capable of triggering intrusion into the adjacent rocks that form the sills. The magma rocks are formed when explosive gases and hot underground water melt the glacial ice near the mantles (Price 24). The magma at Mt. St. Helens contains glacial rocks, ash and sedimentary rocks that melt during eruptions to form the mountain. This happens when the pressure pushed up the weaker sedimentary rocks that mix with the ash along the mantes (Foxworthy and Hill 23). The eruption can take long hours in the atmosphere before reaching the surface and this is harmful to the people in the vicinity. The magma erupted through the explosives are highly viscous and resistant to flow, which make the steep volcanoes. As a result, the chemical investigation of the eruptive materials from various phases of Mount St. Helens volcanism indicates that the magmatic structure interacts with different chemicals such as silicic and other compounds (Anderson 50). The Andean-type mountains extend from the Columbian to the Chilean regions. They were shaped through the subduction of the Nazca plates that collided with the Antarctic plates to cause an eruption. In this regard, the other geologic features associated with the Andean-Type mountains entail faults, folds and igneous rocks (Price 24). These features are remnants of active eruptions

Health Critique Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words
Health Critique - Essay Example Practically, when a nurse is attending to a patient, proper communication relationship will influence 100% patient audience and awareness concerning the health issue. The nurse will be able to influence the positive attitude of the patient towards the health issue hence the patient gets motivated and hope for quick recovery. According to Dahlgren and Whiteheadââ¬â¢s 1991 model, it is evident that sociological factors broadly affect and determine the health practice of an individual. According to the model, there are various factors that influence individual health which as socially related. The model broadly and clearly describes social-ecological theories towards proper health practice (Whitehead and Dahlgren, 2005). The main objective of the model is to map-out possibilities of the relationship between an individual, their environment, and diseases (Whitehead and Dalhgren, 2005). In relation to the video, it is evident that personal behavior and way of living is a major factor affecting the health of the patient. Poor personal behavior and bad choice of a peer is one of the greater social determinants towards proper health practices. In reality, most people fall victim to health issues due to a poor social relationship. For example, the choice to smoke is a personal decision that can be triggered by poor choices of friends. Peer influence is a major determinant of health in a society. This is because it is known that many people fall victim to serious health issues; for example drug abuse due to bad peer choice. On the other hand, societies with responsible peer groups do face fewer health issues that are socially unacceptable.à Ã

College Life Essay Example for Free
College Life Essay Wow! The first week of college was a breeze. All my professors seemed so nice. Class never lasted longer than thirty minutes. I did not have to carry any books to class for that whole week. Finding classes was some what tough, even though my classes are around the same area. I did not have any homework to do. I did not see my friends as much but we hung out as much as we could. I went to a different party each night of the week and still attended all of my classes. I do not need a bed time. I know how to get up, but now things have changed. College life is going to be a difficult transition for me. Having to move away from my family is going to take some time to get used to. Waking myself up everyday will be a chore in itself. Now I will have a roommate to be considerate of. I will decide if I should attend a party or go to a club without someones approval. I can go to the club with out my mom having the final verdict. I will hang out with my friends anytime I want to. I will have to learn how to manage my own money and time. At the end of the day college is all of what I make it. May it be hard for some and easy for others it is up to me to decide how I will adjust to college life; will I go to class; study for my test; waste my money; like my roommate? The distance between Greensboro, North Carolina and Washington, DC is greater than what I thought. I thought the number of miles apart would be a good thing but once again time has proven me wrong. I find myself calling home and cherishing every conversation I have with my family more and more. I send them emails when they do not answer the phone. Sometimes call to check on my younger brothers and sisters which I could not stand when I was at home. I miss my mom the most. She is the person who I thought that I would miss the least. Being home sickness has really set in. Also I miss driving my car anywhere I want to go. I miss just sitting on my front porch talking to my neighbors and their children. I miss going to work and making my own money to spend on whatever I want to. I miss going to the high school football game to see my brother play and my sister cheer. I really miss a home cooked meal and enjoying it with my family on a Sunday night after church. I miss getting my hair done every two to three weeks. It is hard to wake myself up everyday. It is hard to get up everyday to go to class because I go to sleep so late at night from talking to my friends or doing homework. It is also, hard because I do not get enough sleep at night. I have an eight oclock a. m. class that I struggle to get up for almost everyday of the week. Also I struggle to stay up for my six oclock p. m. classes. I knew it was going to get hard but I did not think it would get hard this fast. I have to do my homework in between classes so I will have enough time to go to sleep each night. Getting to know my roommate, Ebony, is the second hardest thing to do. It is hard because she is so different from me. She is from Elizabeth City, North Carolina and I am from Washington, DC. She listens to different music, wears different clothes, and acts different from me because she is from a different geographical region from me. During the first week at school we did not talk much. She does not to appreciate our dorm room because it is smaller than her room at home. She always slept and if she was not sleep then she was hanging out with her friends. She did not talk to anyone from our suites. Now, she is not afraid talk to us. She has friends over now and introduces them to us. She went to a club with us for the first time and that has been the only club that she has been to since she has been here. Before I came to college I thought I would always go to parties or the club. That thought has proven to be just a thought, not reality. I can party all the time if I want to but that would be wasting all of my parents money. I have to think about my classes before I go to a club. I know that the best days for me to go to the club are on Wednesday and Friday nights, because I do not have class on Thursday mornings or on Saturdays. So I just do not go to the clubs with my friends all of the time. I learned quick how to say no to going out. Eventually I will not have any money if I keep going to the clubs or parties. I enjoy hanging out with my friends, but I know that is not always possible. They always try to get me to do things when I need to study. They get upset at me when I tell them no. I guess that is because they have not adjusted to the fact that we will not always be able to hang out. I still try to eat lunch and dinner with them almost everyday. It is not possible to hang out with my friends anymore because of the difference in our class schedules. We also do not hang out anymore because of the activities that we all take part in. Sometimes my friends go home on the weekend so we do not get to hang out on the weekends either. Managing my own money and time is a hard task. Usually my mom tells me what to buy and what not to. Now that she is not here who will help me? It is up to me to make the right choice. Do I buy the Jordan sneakers that come out on the seventeenth or do I save that money for a better investment? Since that choice is up to me I will probably buy the Jordan sneakers. My mom would want me to save the money and spend it on something that I really need; like school books and food. It is not her responsibility to manage my money anymore. Time management is equally important. I will have to know how to spend the appropriate amount of time per day studying for my classes. I must not procrastinate on my assignments. I find it that I am always waiting until the last minute to do the work for my classes, because I work best under pressure. In summary the transition from high school to college has been an interesting one. I will learn more in-depth into all subjects that I learned in high school especially business. Making the decision to buy the Jordans sneakers will always be a decision that I look back on in the future. Going to the club on Thursday and waking up for my eight oclock a. m. class is going to be a big choice to make. It will be hard to know how much time I need to study for test or quizzes in any of my classes. I am still learning how to interact with my roommate. In order to make her fell comfortable around me and my friends. I have managed to wake myself up for class ever since I started to attend North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

A Comparison of The Grapes of Wrath and Anthem Essay -- comparison com
Comparing The Grapes of Wrath and Anthem à à à à Two great intellectuals of the early twentieth century wrote works of fiction that have become classics; they espoused polar-opposite views, however, of how society best functions. Their battle between communalism, as pictured in John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath, and individualism, as portrayed in Ayn Rand's Anthem, was played out in their novels, and still continues to this day. Based on Ayn Rand's book Anthem, Rand would definitely believe that there is a greater danger involved in communalism than in individualism. The book offers a vision of a distant retrograde future in which the candle is the newest invention; individualism has been completely suppressed; and one of the most commonly used words today, "I," is completely unheard of. The book celebrates the heroism of an individual - the main character, Equality 7-2521 - in his fight to promote individual achievement. Once banished for his individualistic beliefs, he and his girl, Liberty 5-3000, discover the wonders of human freedom and the word "I." With his newfound gift, Equality 7-2521 pledges to return to the civilization and destroy the oppression of the collective spirit, and liberate humanity into "a world in which each man will be free to exist for his own sake." It was mainly written as a response to the widening acceptance of philosophies of totalitarian governments, but also to the belief of sacrificing individual liberties for the public good, ever-present during the "Red Scare." In place of these ideas, Rand developed her theory of "Objectivism," which celebrates reason, capitalism, and individuality. Rand expresses these beliefs throughout the entirety of the book by showi... ... has to be both. Also, it is good to sacrifice a little bit for the greater good, but you can't sacrifice as much as you would in communalism or as little as in individualism. For example, the sacrificing of civil liberties during the now-present "War on Terrorism" is becoming too great of a sacrifice; also, in the case of Enron, they didn't sacrifice enough, and the result was devastating to many people. Ayn Rand and John Steinbeck, from the perspective of the very early twentieth century, have set forth in their novels opposing views that continue to be debated in the twenty-first century. Based on current events, it seems highly unlikely that the argument over Individualism and Collectivism will be resolved soon, if ever. Sources Rand, Aynà Anthem New York: Signet 1961. Hobbesââ¬â¢ Political Philosophy Essay
Hobbes argues that the state of nature is a state of perpetual war of all against all and consequently, the life of man in the state of nature ââ¬Å"solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and shortâ⬠(xiii, 9). In this paper I will explain Hobbesââ¬â¢ arguments that support his claim to the state of nature. I will also assess these arguments and state that they are not valid and, therefore, not sound. I will then talk about the most controversial premise, relative scarcity of goods, and how Hobbes would respond to the objections of this premise. I will then talk about his response to this objection being unsuccessful. Finally, I will assess whether it will be possible to leave the state of nature given the factors Hobbes describes that create the state of nature. I will show that Hobbesââ¬â¢ argument on how men will leave the state of nature is a valid and sound argument. According to Hobbes this war of ââ¬Å"all against allâ⬠comes from three key points. First, Hobbes states that there is a rough equality among men. Hobbes means by equality of men, that one man is not strong or intelligent enough that he can overpower two men. Secondly, because of this equality between men, if there is competition for the same goods, men will begin to distrust each other. Lastly, Hobbes states that because of this mistrust there is a cascade effect. The anticipation of one man being attacked causes them to attack the other because they consider it a better option to attack, rather than wait and be attacked. According to Hobbes this leads to a war of all against all. This is an invalid argument and therefore unsound. I will show that this argument is invalid by showing that because of the equality of men there is a fear among men. The premise dealing with the equality of men makes this argument invalid because if all men were considered equal, then men would be in constant fear of one another. This is due to the lack of ability to overpower each other. They would be unwilling to attack each other because there is no assurance that they would win because of this. The most controversial premise is the one dealing with the competition between goods. The scarcity of goods does not necessarily have to lead to a competition amongst the goods. An example of this is the Native Americans. They could be considered to have lived in the state of nature, but they did not live in a state of a war of all against all as described by Hobbes. Some tribes had goods that other tribes did not have and vice versa. The tribes realized this and traded their own goods with each other. Hobbes might respond to this objection by saying that this is an invalid argument because it is relying on the premise that everyone is going to keep to their covenants in the state of nature. If people behave rationally and act on their own self-interest it would make sense that people would break their covenants after the other party has completed their side. They would break them because they would have more to gain This response would not be adequate because Hobbes also states in Leviathan, that if one side completes their part of the covenant then the other side should keep their part, even in the state of nature. If one were to not keep their covenant, then they may not be trusted to keep covenants by another group because of their previous breaking of covenants. Hobbesââ¬â¢ description of the state of nature as a state of a constant war of all against all is that it is not a literal state of every man against every man but more like a war of several small groups of family and friends against other groups of the same. The key factors that generate the state of war are equality of men, scarcity of goods, competition for goods, mistrust because of competition, mistrust generates anticipation of an attack, and therefore they arm and attack. Hobbesââ¬â¢ argument assumes that people behave rationally and act on their best self interest. If they act in their best self-interest in the state of nature it will cause them both to arm and attack each other rather than to disarm and have peace. They will do this because it is in their best self-interest. If one of them were to disarm and the other were to arm then the one who arms would have victory over the other who disarmed, who will have defeat. Rationally they would both arm and attack each other causing a war of all against all. In order to escape the state of nature men must first realized that it would be better if they compact together under a sovereign. They must then decided on a common sovereign and allow that sovereign to rule over all, despite whom each individual chose. I will show that Hobbesââ¬â¢ argument that gets men out of the state of nature is valid and sound. I will show this by taking the premise that men act on their own self-interest, and explain how it will lead to an escape of the state of nature. If men have the option, either to remain independent or compact together with someone else under a sovereign, and if men think rationally, then it would be in their best self-interest to live under the common interest and the protection of the sovereign. It is in their best self-interest because if they remained independent then they would be at a disadvantage because the others would have the backing of everyone who has compacted with the sovereign. Additionally, if there is a dispute between who is to be sovereign, even if it is not the one that they would prefer, if they behave rationally, they would decide to compact under the rule of that sovereign. It is in their self-interest to live under a sovereign even if they did not want them as sovereign, instead of reverting back to the state of nature. Assuming Hobbes is correct in stating that the state of nature is a war of all against all, it is shown that even with the mistrust between people, it will still be rational to compact under a sovereign to escape the state of nature.
